A Note from our Executive Director
Dear Supporters and Partners,
As we reflect on the year 2024, I am filled with gratitude and pride for the strides we have made at the Foundation for Social Program Initiatives (FOSPI). We are focused on several key areas, such as education, gender equity, healthcare, mental health, and poverty alleviation. Our goal is to increase access to quality education for marginalized communities, promote gender equity by providing vocational training and economic opportunities for women, advocating for equal rights, and supporting initiatives that promote women’s leadership. In healthcare, we aim to improve health outcomes by providing healthcare facilities and medical supplies to underserved areas, conducting health education programs, and supporting research and innovation. Our mental health initiatives focus on enhancing awareness, access, and support through comprehensive interventions.
Despite our achievements in 2024, we faced significant challenges. The communities we serve continue to struggle with poor infrastructure, such as lack of electricity, poor road networks, and inadequate clean water supply. Economic hardship and unemployment remain prevalent, with many widows and business owners struggling due to high costs and low capital. Additionally, the absence of healthcare facilities and educational barriers, such as the lack of secondary schools and expensive transportation, have hindered progress. Our outreach programs, such as the 2024 Christmas outreach in the NSAN, Akpabuyo and Okoyong communities highlighted these challenges. Community members shared their experiences of poor living conditions, lack of jobs, and inadequate healthcare and education facilities. These narratives have been crucial in shaping our understanding and response to the needs of these communities.
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, we aim to enhance educational support through scholarships, school rehabilitation, and funding for transportation. In healthcare, we will work towards rebuilding hospitals, providing medical aid, and training health workers. We also plan to boost local economies by funding small businesses and farmers, and empowering youth through vocational training and job creation programs. In the near future, we plan to provide infrastructure development, including electricity provision, road repairs, and clean water systems.
We are committed to continuing our work with the same dedication and passion, and we look forward to your continued support as we strive to create sustainable development and positive change in the communities we serve.
Thank you for being a part of our journey.
Warm regards
