Christmas Feeding and Mental Health Drive 2024
December 23rd – 27th 2024
Dear Friends,
Nigeria is a country of over 200 million people with 133 million people, or 63% of the population, living in multidimensional poverty. Nigeria’s current inflation rate is 32.7% and the Naira which is the official currency has been depreciated so much in the last year reflecting a 230% loss of value. As a result, millions of Nigerians are facing an unprecedented crisis.
The relentless rise in food costs and the harsh economic realities have plunged many into a state of hunger, malnutrition, psychological stress, anger and anxiety. Mental health experts and advocates have warned the present situation is having an impact on depression levels in the country. The severe shortage of mental health professionals and lack of readily accessible mental health services further compounds the situation. Today, we reach out to you with a heartfelt appeal to support the 5 Days Feeding and Mental Health Drive, an initiative aimed at alleviating this suffering and restoring hope to those in need.
This feeding drive is not just about providing meals; it is about giving hope and enhancing overall well-being especially during the festive season where many families will not be able to afford a meal.
How Your Support Can Make a Difference: Your financial contributions will provide immediate impact in the lives of those who are suffering.
How Your Donations Will Be Used
- To distribute 20,000 nutritious meals for 5 days to very vulnerable populations, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.
- To provide access to mental health resources and counseling services to 500 people, helping individuals navigate their psychological distress.
- To engage community leaders and volunteers to create a supportive environment where mental health challenges can be openly discussed without stigma.
